Just thought I'd add my gripe in here. The following is the email that's on it's way to support@teamlava.com. I'm very frustrated and ready to plant flowers and be done with it until this is fixed.

Farm Story Version: 1.9 - reinstalled today
I am having extreme connection issues with Farm Story, and it is seriously interfering with my enjoyment of the game. I get an "Oh Darn" message every couple of minutes, sometimes every time I open my wall or visit someone, and multiple times while trying to plant, harvest, or plow. I have cleared my cache, reinstalled, restarted, etc. I know that I am not alone with this issue, and I would like to know how to fix this. I cannot visit all my neighbors in a day because it takes me 5 minutes to get through 2 neighbors. I cannot plant short growing crops because I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to harvest them without interruption, causing some to wither. Every time I get the "Oh Darn" message, when the game finally connects again, I have to close out the ad for the gem sale (thanks, I already knew about it) and the messages about what's new in this update (already knew, don't really care). PLEASE fix this!!

Oh well. I guess the email won't do me any good. I'll post it in the bugs and glitches section on the forum, then sit here and hold my breath. Just in case anyone else wanted to get an actual response from an email, it seems you'll be out of luck. I got the following response:

Ok, I guess I'm not allowed to post the email that I got on here. Not sure why, but feel free to delete all the posts. I did get a response with some helpful technical info, even though I was told that bug reports needed to be posted on the forum now. Just thought I'd update.

Yeah you can summarize what you find out, but you cannot post the actual email from support (privacy issue).
With emails, depending on the words you use in your email, you may get an automatic response to report bugs and glitches on the forum, but that does not mean that support has closed out your ticket.
