Air can be used instead of Neo Air. Both are pure yellow dragons, and therefore interchangeable.
In fact, any combo that contains only yellow and purple will do. The only thing that matters is having the correct colors present in the parents, the specific dragons used makes no difference.
Any combo containing only purple and yellow produces the same group of 7 possible outcomes: Cosmic, Royal, Peacock, Genie, Music, Trickster, or Prophecy.
Air X Magic (yellow X purple)
Genie X Trickster (yellow/purple hybrid X yellow/purple hybrid)
Neo Air X Sorceress (yellow X yellow/purple hybrid)
all have the same 7 possible outcomes.
Breeding any 2 dragons in the game that contain only yellow and/or purple will produce this same group of 7 possible outcomes. So, the chances of getting a Prophecy Dragon are exactly the same, no matter which combo you use.
Just don't try to use the Cosmic Dragon or the Royal Dragon in hopes that it will split. Even though the cosmic type and royal type can both split into yellow and purple, the results of a split don't fulfill the color requirements for an event common. It's a special breeding rule for these event commons.
The sharing of successful combinations is just part tradition, part celebrating with friends, and part sending some good luck to others.
In some of the other dragon breeding games, the combos used do matter, so I think the tradition of sharing a successful breeding combos just carried over to this game's forums.

I got it second try with Peacock and Neo Air. First try was a Genie.
So far 2 peacock dragon and one trickster dragon *sigh*
I got it breeding Mist for Bingo with Magic. I usually don?t get anything on the first try.
Now I hope I get enough food for the Tales.
I used this same combination mist x magic and I got it finally!!
I got it, first try with Magic and gold
Magic - neo air, only genie fails.
Got it with Peacock + Neo Air. First one
Radiant + Genie. Second one. Wasn’t trying this time.
