    After a couple of days of bacon, water, a bazillion truffles, it turned around today - got 5 gems earlier today, and just now got a royal block!

    Pigglesworth is a good bet simply because he's not expensive- one energy an hour for the chance of something lovely. Even bacon is helpful. Truffles annoy me, as they're only useful for one thing (a kitchen recipe I rarely follow as it uses supplies contrary to my purpose), but everything else he gives is usable.
