If you breed it within past 39 minutes it can only be Gemstone if you got a 12 hour timer.
Boo. just wasted a week breeding more islands.
I think they do this so we will spend all our gold speeding up nests. Since it is a very very rare breed and fails are very long waits. It is also a popular dragon that many of us want so makes good business sense to dangle it in front of us then pull it back. So we've spent all our good, some got lucky most didn't. Now we have to replenish that good. Equals more money.
Sadly, Im with the fail group and way to many Islands. I got nothing good. Only a frustrating week.
I also failed with Quetzal too!
In my case, trying to get mermaid has resulted in: 1 serpent,1 atlantis, 3 gemstones, and lost count on the amount of islands I got. Geez, if I sold so many islands in real life I'd be a billionaire! How many mermaids did I get? None. I'm used to failing, though. Saturn, quetzal, fireworks, eclipse, absolutely all limited dragons seem to hate my place. Oh, well, kinda frustrating, but it's just a game. From now on, no more trying for limited. It takes the fun away.
Was the Mermaid Dragon limited when it was first released?
No. It's a very old dragon, then without warning it became limited. It came back for a few days though so that was nice
