    how do i request a specific gift from neighbors?

    You have to purchase the habitat that requires that gift, then tap it twice to bring up the screen with the request buttons. I have no idea which habitats take which parts though, it's been forever since I built anything on that game.

    You can also go to their zoo and ask them on their wall. If they visit and read your wall that's another spot to put it.
