How to get more gems w/o buying them?

Just wondering if there is any way to get gems without actually buying them?? I'm a new farmer and need advice. Thanks!

There is currently no way to earn gems without spending money but, thankfully, the game is playable without them.

Forgot to add that it has been confirmed that there will be one off promotions in future for downloading certain other free titles from related developers.
